Pointless’ Richard Osman – now a bestselling author – married Doctor Who actress Ingrid Oliver following two years of dating. The 52-year-old has admitted his delight now that they have finally tied the knot on an emotional day that was “full of love”.

“The most magical, joyful day on Saturday with my beautiful wife @ingridoliver100,” he shared via Twitter.

“Surrounded by wonderful friends and family, a day full of love and laughter. We’re so, so happy.”

The photo of him with the blushing bride, who clutched a white bouquet of flowers in one hand and her beau’s hand in the other, quickly attracted more than 23,000 likes.

As the page was flooded with congratulatory messages from fans, he even received some favourable comments about his style.

“Bonus points for opting for black shoes with a blue suit rather than the more fashionable, but somewhat vulgar, tan shoes,” @Indolent_Knave wrote.

Among the celebrity well-wishers was fellow TV star Lauren Laverne, who exclaimed: “What a gorgeous photo! Huge congratulations and tons of love! Xxx”

Richard had previously opened up earlier this year about how he had first met his beloved, gushing she had instantly put a twinkle in his eye.

He admitted during an interview on This Morning: “Our first date [was] completely on camera.

Richard fondly recalled: “We’ve been together ever since… and [now] we’re getting married!”

The hugely popular author joked, in a reference to his first novel, The Thursday Murder Club, “I’m writing murders and planning a wedding at the same time. Everything is very busy… but sitting there writing the book is the key for me.”

If Ingrid found his attitude unromantic, she didn’t complain – and the pair have now tied the knot in what Richard previously insisted to Lorraine Kelly would be a “very unshowbizzy wedding, just with all our school friends”.

Richard’s wife is well known for her role in Doctor Who as Petronella Osgood.

She is also part of the comedy double act Watson and Oliver.

Meanwhile, Richard announced another update in his life earlier in the year, after telling his 1.1 million followers back in April that he was leaving Pointless to focus on his novels.

His co-star Alexander Armstrong felt he had been left bereft, but acknowledged that “daytime television’s loss is international best-selling crime fiction’s gain”.

Richard has confirmed he will still continue appearing on House of Games – perhaps as a thank you to the fateful show that first introduced him to his beloved wife.
