Project L Is “Very Much” Still A Work-In-Progress; More Info To Be Shared This Year

It has been some time since we heard anything about Riot’s Project L, the fighting game set in the League of Legends universe announced a while back, and it seems like there’s a good reason for this lack of updates.

As reported on the Project L subreddit, the game’s Senior Director and Executive Producer Tom Cannon recently confirmed that the game is still very much a work-in-progress project and that they are sharing news on the game way sooner than any other fighting game, mostly due to the fact that the studio values the feedback they have been receiving from players after each update. Additionally, it has been confirmed that there won’t be any update on the game during the EVO Japan tournament, which is being held later this week, but news on the game will still be coming later this year.

The latest update on Project L was provided in August 2022. The developer confirmed that Illaoi, who also appeared in another League of Legends spin-off, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, will be among the game’s playable heroes. Additionally, it was confirmed that all core mechanics were already in place, and the team was focusing on character development, competitive and social features, and on removing as many barriers as possible. Unsurprisingly for a game developed by Riot, it was also confirmed that Project L will release as a free-to-play game.

Project L is currently in development for yet-to-be-confirmed platforms, and a release window has yet to be announced. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
