PSG ‘offer four players’ as part of Tanguy Ndombele deal but Tottenham hold firm | Football | Sport

Tottenham have rejected Paris Saint-Germain’s offer of no less than four players in exchange for out-of-sorts midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to reports. The 25-year-old is said to be among the names under consideration in the French capital after failing to work his way into Antonio Conte’s long-term plans in north London over the last few months.

Ndombele has come under fire as a result of his poor performances for Tottenham in recent weeks and does not appear to have much of a future at the club as things stand.

He is said to be closing in on a six-month loan move to Valencia, who have emerged as the prime contenders to secure his signature over the next few days.

However, PSG are also said to be keen on striking a deal for Ndombele in order to improve their ranks in the middle of the park.

The Ligue 1 heavyweights appear to be very much in the frame to land the midfielder as they are prepared to cover his full wage for the duration of the proposed loan spell.

They have already tried to sweeten the deal by offering four players in exchange for Ndombele, but it seems as though they will need to go back to the drawing board in order to finalise the move prior to Monday’s deadline.

Julian Draxler, Danilo, Leandro Paredes and Ander Herrera were all included in a significant recent offer that was ultimately rejected by Tottenham, according to Foot Mercato.

It is claimed that Spurs had no interest in bringing in the aforementioned quartet as they are looking to offload Ndombele before signing any new players of their own.

The former Lyon playmaker is said to be open to the idea of joining PSG due to the belief that he could flourish under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino at the Parc des Princes.

He is also believed to enjoy a close relationship with Kylian Mbappe, who has been linked with a high-profile move to Real Madrid at the end of the season.

DON’T MISS

However, it remains to be seen whether Ndombele will eventually be allowed to join PSG until the summer or if he will be shipped out to Valencia or another club instead.

Everton have also been credited with a desire to bring the Spurs man to Goodison Park, suggesting that a three-way battle for his signature could be poised to take shape ahead of next week’s deadline.

Meanwhile, former England striker Kevin Phillips recently urged Tottenham to shift Ndombele’s salary off their books with immediate effect in order to boost their hopes of strengthening their squad over the coming days.

“Ndombele is clearly not in Conte’s plan,” Phillips told Football Insider when quizzed on the situation last week.

“If they can get him out and get him off the wage bill they could use that money to fund a couple of signings.

“That is one that I’m sure Spurs would like to get done very, very quick.

“It just hasn’t worked out for Ndombele at Spurs. He’s had a few managers now so I think it’s best for all parties that he leaves.”

Ndombele remains Tottenham’s record signing after joining the club in a £54million move from Lyon in the summer of 2019.
