Sir Brian May is one of the first people to be knighted by King Charles III in 2023 as the musician joined the monarch at Buckingham Palace today.

The 75-year-old was announced as a recipient of the prestigious title in the monarch’s New Years Honours list.

The guitarist, astrophysicist, philanthropist and activist received the honour for his services to music and charity.

Alongside the guitarist at the royal affair today is the UK’s ambassador in Kyiv, Dame Melinda Simmons, Saxophonist YolanDa Brown OBE, and former Treasury permanent secretary Sir Tom Scholar.

Sir Brian, who was accompanied by his wife Anita Dobson at the palace, was originally awarded a CBE for his services to music and charity in 2005 by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
