If there’s anything that Bollywood has taught us, it’s that love is dreamy and charming. And that Ranbir Kapoor is always at the helm of it. Who doesn’t enjoy a romantic comedy? The subgenre is one that has excelled at the box office and maintained a strong recall value over time. These movies were excellent mood lifters and sources of comfort. They didn’t give us any sermons or profound advice. They were only created to amuse and, when performed to musical harmony, can melt even the hardest heart.Ranbir Kapoor has surely served us with some much-needed romantic escapism at times. It was almost a decade ago when Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani premiered in the theatres and broke all records. Since then very few romcoms have been able to reach the same heights.
One of the most memorable and unconventional pairings in Bollywood was the 2009 coming-of-age film, Wake Up Sid. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma, the film still stays in our minds. Not only were the actors from different backgrounds but the age difference was also unmissable. Bollywood was finally looking at the possibility of a unique romance and as a result Wake Up Sid became one of the most enduring classics in the canon of Bollywood.
Similar to Rajkumar Santoshi’s cult classic Andaz Apna Apna in that it is intended to be a goofy yet endearing romantic comedy, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is a film about a precocious but lovely love affair. One of the main contributing elements to the popularity of the movie was the lead couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, who won over the public with their chemistry.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani sparkles with romance, joy, and heartache like many romantic comedies do. The film is glossy and bright, and the principal actors’ on-screen chemistry is outstanding. With the movie, Ayan also demonstrated his ability to win over both reviewers and the general public. Ranbir Kapoor seamlessly transitions into the jovial and flirtatious part of Bunny.
Ranbir Kapoor did an outstanding job in Tamasha thanks to his restrained part, which gave him the opportunity to shine in several key situations. The premise of the movie depicts a couple’s complicated relationship and the numerous challenges they face on a daily basis. Undoubtedly, there were some issues due to the film’s convoluted narrative structure. Nonetheless, Deepika Padukone’s amazing performance as well as other standout actors as well as the music best define the plot.
That brings us to Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar. So far, the response looks bright for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar as it has struck the perfect chord with the target audience – the youth. The family theme of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar also has the potential to draw in a much wider audience.TJMM is easy, breezy, and fun and although Ranbir Kapoor says he has no intentions of returning to the genre of rom coms, we appreciate all the dreamy characters he has given us (and hope for more).
