RE4 Remake Too Easy For You? This Resident Evil 4 Remake Nightmare Mod Turns the Game’s Difficulty Up a Notch
Is Capcom’s latest Resident Evil remake too easy for you? Well, this new nightmare mod makes the game vastly more difficult.
Let’s start off by saying that I’m no hero when it comes to Resident Evil games. I usually play these games on standard difficulty and can be quite content upon finishing them. Of course, there are some who prefer an actual challenge. For those players, Capcom has created the ‘Hardcore’ and ‘Professional’ difficulty levels, which make enemies stronger and increased item cost. In addition, the Professional difficulty doesn’t offer an autosave, and the parry skill is limited.
Then we a selected few who are looking for an even tougher gameplay experience. Luckily, those can now make their way through rural Spain in nightmare mode. Created by modder ‘Multi’, this Resident Evil 4 Remake Nightmare mod vastly increases the game’s difficulty by making changes to various gameplay features, including changes to enemy damage, increased merchant prices, item changes, decreased item value, and more.
The modder advises using this mod when starting a new game without having any bonuses applied. Those looking for a real struggle to be able to beat the game are advised to use this mod while playing in Hardcore or Professional mode. We’ve included some of the key changes included with this mod below. More changes could be made in an upcoming version of this mod.

- Nearly all Merchant purchase prices have been doubled
- Items only sell for 25% of the value
- Merchant now trades different items and for different values
- Nearly each and every enemy has had their damage values to the player changed, meaning somethings will hurt a lot more, while few are near the same.
- Yellow Herbs are now a game-changing factor to determine whether an attack will survivable later on or not
- Take good care of Body Armor and the Combat Knife, repairing it wont be easy!
- Always carry a knife, grabs can be lethal!
