Real Madrid star Fede Valverde reportedly ‘punched an opponent in the car park’ after his side suffered a huge upset against Villarreal. Uruguayan international Valverde had taken issue with something he claims opponent Alex Baena said during a previous match which was then repeated at the Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday.
Spanish newspaper MARCA reports that Valverde waited for Baena in the Bernabeu car park where the visiting team’s coach was parked before punching his opponent in the face. The newspaper contacted Valverde’s entourage about the incident who said that the aggression between the players dated back to a Copa del Rey match in January which Madrid won 3-2 at Villarreal.
The entourage said: “In the Copa del Rey match, Baena kicked Fede and told him ‘cry now that your son is not going to be born.’ That stayed there, but today he said another similar thing to him, and Fede got heated. So he waited for him in the parking lot and told him that he was ‘not messing with his family.'”
The newspaper added that Valvere’s wife, Mina Bonino, was close to losing their child earlier this year, in a pregnancy that eventually went to plan. During the cup game in Villarreal, Baena is also accused of making a gesture towards Valverde that emulated the Uruguayan crying.

The entourage added: “Fede never has problems with anyone and this has been for something very serious that comes from before.” Usually mild-mannered Valverde also got into a spat on the pitch with Baena as the pair renewed their rivalry, it was during the altercation that the Madrid player’s connections claim a comment about the star’s family was repeated.
Madrid came into the match looking to cut a 12-point game to La Liga leaders Barcelona, who they hammered 4-0 in the Copa del Rey last week. With Villarreal hoping to make the Champions League placed both sides had a lot riding on the match.
