The remake of the iconic Capcom game sees the return of Leon with a ton of improvement across the board. Following much craze among the franchise’s fans, it seems like the hype paid off.

Resident Evil 4 Remake holds the franchise record for most concurrent players

According to SteamDB, the game has found widespread success among its community, with a peak concurrent players record of 168,191. The player count ranks highest among all titles in the popular horror franchise, ranking ahead of Resident Evil Village, which previously held the record with 106,631 players (Thanks, VG247).

The game has been a massive hit on Steam, with the title currently ranking second in the Top Sellers list behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and ahead of titles like Apex Legends, The Last of Us: Part I, Destiny 2, FIFA 23, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and more.

Everything you need to know about the Resident Evil 4 Remake

The remake of the hit 2005 survival horror game follows the story of protagonist U.S. Agent Leon S. Kennedy, as he attempts to save Ashley Graham, the daughter of the President, from her captors in the Los Illuminados cult. In the game, Leon tracks Graham to a secluded European village, where the residents are not what they seem.

When it comes to the gameplay, the remake features the same over-the-should third-person action just like the original. The game features improved visuals, and it no longer has Quick-Time events. Instead, players will have side-quests to complete. Along with that, the fan-favourite horde-style Mercenaries mode will be making its way on April 7.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is available to play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
