Rosoters v Melbourne Storm, Lindsay Collins ban, judiciary, news

Firebrand Roosters prop Lindsay Collins faces the prospect of not playing again this season after being hit with a four-game ban for his hip-drop tackle in his side’s thrilling win over the Storm on Friday night.

Collins won’t be available until grand final week if he accepts the four-match suspension and, if the Queensland State of Origin enforcer fights his charge at the judiciary and loses, he’ll have no chance of strapping up the boots again this year.

The match review committee charged Collins with a grade-three dangerous-contact charge for a hip-drop tackle on Melbourne forward Tom Eisenhuth, souring the Tricolours’ 18-14 triumph.

Roosters forwards Victor Radley and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves were also charged following the match, as well as Storm front-rower Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

Radley was dealt an $1800 fine for dangerous contact on Storm halfback Jahrome Hughes, while Waerea-Hargreaves received a $3000 fine for contrary conduct on Asofa-Solomona.

The match review committee also handed Asofa-Solomona a $3000 fine for dangerous contact on Roosters winger Joseph Suaalii.

The Roosters secured their seventh win on the bounce and confirmed their place in the finals, but they almost certainly lost three keys players in the process.

Roosters firebrand binned as tensions erupt

In addition to Collins’ four-match ban, Radley is set for an indefinite stint on the sideline after being concussed and carted from the field following a nasty collision with Storm prop Jesse Bromwich.

And winger Daniel Tupou was also wiped out indefinitely by a groin injury.

The Roosters will meet the Rabbitohs at the new Sydney Football Stadium next Friday night, before attempting to win their third premiership in five years.

Trent Robinson’s men will need to win four games in succession if they are to lift the Provan-Summons Trophy this year.
