It read: “Following an accident earlier this week, and after medical assessment, regretfully Ruth Madoc is no longer able to appear in this year’s pantomime of Aladdin at the Princess Theatre in Torquay.
“Everyone at the theatre wishes Ruth a speedy recovery.
“Further announcements regarding casting will take place in due course.”
But refusing to let it get her down, Ruth vowed she was “well” and would “soon be back to normal”.
Sadly on Saturday afternoon, her agent announced she had died after surgery in hospital following the incident.
She is survived by her two children, daughter Lowri and son Rhys, and her five grandchildren.
