Samsung may have reduced Galaxy A23 5G by 70%
The report claims that Samsung was initially planning to ship 12.6 million units of the Galaxy A23 5G in 2022. But the smartphone maker has now reportedly revised that figure and lowered it to just less than four million. This means that Samsung has likely reduced its Galaxy A23 5G smartphone shipments by 70%. However, the company has not officially responded to these new shipment figures yet.
Why Samsung decided to reduce shipments
The Samsung Galaxy A23 offers specs like 25W charging support and a 50MP main camera setup that delivers users good value for money. As per the report, Samsung has switched suppliers to develop the camera sensors for this device. This caused some problems with the camera sensor’s development for the company. The report didn’t mention how these alleged issues affected the handset’s shooters.
These problems have been reportedly resolved now, yet Samsung has decided to ship fewer units of the device anyway. The report adds that the company is planning to ship 5 million units of the Galaxy A23 5G smartphone in 2023 which is better than this year’s figures. However, Samsung’s 2023 target also falls way behind its initial 12 million shipment target.
How can this shipment reduction affect Samsung
Samsung’s Galaxy A-series is one of the most-sold smartphone lineups of the company. In 2021, the Galaxy A-series devices also racked up a sizeable portion of Samsung’s revenue. Earlier this year, a report by Counterpoint Research showed that the mid-ranger -series handsets accounted for 59% of Samsung’s smartphone total sales in the last quarter of the 2021-22 session.
