Samsung releases January 2023 security update to Galaxy A31

Samsung has rolled out the January 2023 security update for the Galaxy A31 smartphone. The device is eligible for two security updates every year. According to a report by Sammobile, Samsung is currently rolling out the January 2023 security patch for the two models of the Galaxy A31 that are available globally– SM-A315F and SM-A315G.
Notably, the SM-A315F model of the Galaxy A31 is receiving the security patch bearing the firmware version A315FXXS2DWA2 whereas the SM-A315G variant is being updated with the firmware version A315GZHS2DWA2. Both the new firmware updates of the device fix more than security issues.
Currently, the update for the SM-A315F variant is rolling out in Caucasus Countries, India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. While the firmware for the SM-A315G is rolling out in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
To check for the latest OTA on Samsung Galaxy devices, follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings app on the Samsung Galaxy A31 5G phone.
  • Scroll down and tap Software update.
  • Tap Download and Install.
  • The phone will install the update and restart the phone.

It is suggested that users keep a backup of their data before installing the January 2023 security patch on their devices. It is unlikely to happen that an update will lead to trouble while installing the update. Users are still advised to keep a backup of their data to avoid any loss of data.
Samsung Galaxy A31 specifications
Samsung Galaxy A31 features a 6.4-inch full HD+ Infinity U display with a 1080×2400 pixel resolution. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P65 processor with ARM Mali-G52 GPU.
The device packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. Users can further expand storage up to 512GB by adding a microSD card. Samsung Galaxy A31 runs Android 10 operating system topped with the company’s own One UI 2.0. The dual-SIM smartphone comes equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Coming to the camera, the Samsung Galaxy A31 sports a quad-camera setup which comprises 48MP main sensor with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 8MP 123 degrees ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture, 5MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 5MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front is home to a 20MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.
The smartphone offers Dolby Atmos support and is backed by a 5000mAh battery with 15W charging support. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers dual 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type C charging support.
