Samsung has launched the T7 Shield Portable Solid State Drive (PSSD) that comes with 4TB of storage. It is claimed to offer a read speed of up to 1,050MB/s and is as compact as a credit card. The PSSD T7 Shield is aimed at professionals.

Samsung said that the PSSD T7 Shield is priced between the range of Rs 30,000 and Rs 35,000. It will be available at all Samsung retail stores, consumer electronics stores and across online platforms, including Samsung’s official online store in Blue, Grey and Red colour options.

The PSSD T7 Shield gets USB 3.2 Gen2 port and the PCI NVMe technology offers read/write speeds up to 1,050MBps/ 1,000MBps. Samsung claims that the download time from a laptop is also reduced to 8.0 seconds for a 4K quality 4.8GB video and 4.4 seconds for a FHD 3GB video.
As per the South Korean giant, a 12K resolution video of 1TB would approximately take 22 minutes (50 frames per second 17:9 DCI, 8:1 compression codec) to transfer from the source to another device. It also claims that the SSD is up to 9.5 times faster than external hard disk drives (HDDs).
The PSSD T7 Shield has an aluminium body, is IP65-certified for dust and water resistance, and is shock-resistant from drops of up to three metres. Consumers will be offered a 3-year limited warranty on the PSSD T7 Shield.
