Following the news that the Queen had died on Thursday, like many, Sarah Beeny rushed to social media to pay tribute to the late monarch. The 96-year-old passed surrounded by her loved ones at Balmoral after being under medical supervision.

Taking to Twitter, the presenter wrote: “RIP HRH Queen Elizabeth II thank you for your decades of dedication – personally I have every confidence our monarchy is very safe hands – God Save the King x.”

Many of Sarah’s 152,000 followers joined her in remembering the late monarch, however one was offended by the use of HRH (Her Royal Highness).

Twitter user Myro replied, writing: “IGNORANT FOOLS, she’s HM not HRH, HRH is for lesser royals. Such an insult.”

This morning, Sarah, 50, replied: “Umm I now realise this!! Sadly you can’t edit Twitter or I’d fix it!

The royal served as the longest-running monarch with 70 years on the throne.

Following the news of her death, her son Prince Charles was appointed King Charles III.

He was officially proclaimed King in front of the Privy Council at St James’ Palace today.

Yesterday, he addressed the nation following his mother’s death.

He began his speech by paying tribute to her, who he described as “an inspiration”.

“We owe her the most heartfelt debt any family can owe to their mother for her love, affection, guidance, understanding and example,” he added.

The new King went on to say the Queen had “a life well lived” and is “mourned most deeply in her passing”.

He continued to announce that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will now be referred to as the Prince and Princess of Wales.
