It’s Shraddha Kapoor’s birthday today. Since her breakout role in Aashiqui 2, the actor has appeared in films like Stree, Chhichhore, and Saaho, among others. Despite being the daughter of actor Shakti Kapoor and the niece of actress Padmini Kolhapure, Shraddha had her own successes and failures and had to endure countless trashy productions before landing the excellent ones.

Shraddha made her acting debut in the film Teen Patti, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley. Shraddha, however, lost another project, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s My Friend Pinto, due to its box office flop. She was also being offered projects that she was hesitant to accept.

In an interview with Filmfare, Shraddha revealed that while looking for a suitable assignment, she was offered numerous trashy flicks. Shraddha had shared her response to being offered an erotic thriller by a well-known filmmaker, saying, “I didn’t know how to refuse him and rather coyly told him, ‘I’m not going into that territory for now’.”

Shraddha stated in the same interview on losing out on Bhansali’s film: “Before Teen Patti released, I auditioned for a really important film. I was dying to get it. I worked day and night and gave the audition my all. But I didn’t bag the part. When I received the call (about being replaced), I went to my mom and told her what had happened. After that, I asked her to leave me alone. I went to my room and cried on my bed non-stop for three days.”

Shraddha was last seen in Baaghi 3, a film starring Tiger Shroff. Luv Ranjan’s unannounced next project will feature her opposite Ranbir Kapoor. It will be released in theatres around the time of Holi next year, on March 8.
