Silent Hill 2 Remake release date – Horror classic could launch sooner than expected | Gaming | Entertainment

Much like the town of Silent Hill itself, Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake is shrouded in mystery. Not only is the game currently without a release date, but fans have been treated to very little in terms of gameplay footage. The lack of concrete news and in-game action has led to speculation that the Silent Hill 2 remake is still in the early stages of development. However, if a new update by Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno is anything to go by, the Silent Hill 2 remake is a lot closer to launching than expected.

Speaking to PAP Business, Babieno said that the Silent Hill 2 remake is “technically ready” and close to being finished. According to Babieno, Konami is in charge of the release date and promotion of the game.

“Silent Hill 2 is technically ready,” Babieno said (via Gamingbolt). “It does not mean that the game is finished, but we are close.

“However, the issue of the release schedule lies with our partners, what the promotion will look like and when the title will debut is not directly in our hands.”

With Konami expected to make a big splash at this year’s E3 conference in June, there’s a good chance we’ll find out the release date during one of the big conferences.

Judging by Babieno’s comments, Silent Hill 2 is ready to go, meaning we could be playing it before the end of the year.

The Silent Hill 2 remake will launch as a timed PlayStation exclusive, meaning it won’t appear on other platforms for at least 12 months.

Needless to say, the sound and visuals will benefit the most from the remake, which should result in a scarier experience.

Indeed, the game will adopt an over-the-shoulder perspective popularised by fellow survival horror titles like Resident Evil 4.

However, despite the shift in perspective, the core gameplay and narrative experience will remain close to the original.

Bloober will instead make minor tweaks to the story, while altering things like enemy placement and environmental puzzles.
