Simon Cowell has enjoyed a highly impressive career in the music industry. The businessman has played a key role in a number of talent competitions over the years and catapulted numerous musicians to fame. His production company Syco TV created The X Factor and Syco Entertainment produced Britain’s Got Talent.

So how much money does Simon Cowell have in the bank thanks to his glittering career?

His net worth is $600million (around £478million) according to Celebrity Net Worth.

The website also reported that Cowell’s multiple business ventures mean his annual salary may be in excess of $95million (£75million).

Cowell formed British entertainment company Syco in 2002. It is now divided into three sections: Syco Music, Syco TV, and Syco Film and is owned by Sony.

Cowell first shot to fame he was a judge on the first ever series of Pop Idol in 2001 – a show he and the show creator Simon Fuller had pitched to ITV.

The mogul became well known for his scathing comments and reducing contestants to tears.

An American version of the show – American Idol – debuted in 2002 with Cowell as a judge.

Such stars as Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood became famous thanks to the show.

In 2004, Cowell appeared as a judge on the first series of annual TV music competition The X Factor alongside Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.

The businessman continued to star on the judging panel, apart from between 2011 and 2013.

Some well-known artists who have appeared on The X Factor and gone on to achieve number-one singles include Olly Murs, Alexandra Burke, Little Mix and One Direction.

Britain’s Got Talent launched in 2007 with Cowell again appearing as a judge.

Bruno Tonioli will join the judging panel, replacing David Walliams.
