Schenk also sits on the board of parent Skoda Auto and handles finance and IT, as per a press statement.
Meanwhile, Piyush Arora, who was earlier announced as the new managing director for the company assumed office from Tuesday. Former managing director Gurpratap Boparai had resigned from his job effective 1 January.

“I am confident that Christian Cahn von Seelen’s understanding of (Skoda Auto Volkswagen India’s) business in India right from inception, and his strong relationships at HQ, will complement Piyush Arora’s deep knowledge and experience of the Indian automotive sector. Along with Christian Schenk’s support at HQ, this leadership team is fully geared to accelerate our growth in the Indian market,” he said.
The Skoda brand is now steering the Volkswagen Group’s operation in India as part of its India 2.0 project. In 2022, the Skoda and Volkswagen brands will launch mid-size sedan cars based on a platform designed specifically for India. The company called this “the final mile of the INDIA 2.0 project.”
The group’s premium brands, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini are also planning to launch multiple new products this year, the statement added.
