Slack is down for millions of users in the UK and United States. The collaboration tool – which is available online, as well as via dedicated applications for iPhone, Android, Mac and PC – is suffering a huge outage preventing users from logging in to the service, or receiving voice and video calls. The Microsoft Teams competitor lets users send pictures, videos, messages and GIFs to collaborate on work remotely.
Independent website DownDetector, which monitors and tracks the performance of online services by keeping tabs on social media, has tracked a huge spike in complaints from users about issues with the service. In the United States, DownDetector is tracking more than 10,000 reports each minute. In the UK, DownDetector has seen spikes above 1,500.
Slack has acknowledged the ongoing issues with its service. Its official Slack Status Twitter account, which posts updates about its service, has posted: “Some customer[s] may be experiencing issues with loading Slack. We’ll provide a status update once we have more information. We’re sorry for the disruption.”
