Snapchat: Snapchat starts to roll out this WhatsApp-like location feature

Snapchat has announced that it is introducing a WhatsApp-like feature on its platform. The photo sharing platform is rolling out a new feature that will allow you to share real-time location with your friend for a limited time. The feature was announced by the company through a Twitter post that reads “Make sure you and your friends get home safely with temporary location-sharing.” The company is teaming up with a nonprofit program, It’s On Us, that works against campus sexual assault.
The feature is quite similar to the one seen in WhatsApp, where you can share your live location for a certain time period with other users. On Snapchat, you can only share your location with individual friends. The company also does not allow you to share your real-time location to all of your friends on Snapchat. It is worth noting that the other user should be added as your friend to be able to track your location. As per a report by TechCrunch, users will be prompted with a reminder that the tool is meant to be used with close friends and family only, when they try to disable it.
The new location sharing feature will be a part of Snap Map that was launched by the company back in 2017. For those who don’t know, the Snap Map allows users to see the location of their friends when they were last active on Snapchat. The report by TechCrunch reveals that there are over 250 million Snapchat users worldwide that use the Snap Map feature to connect with their friends.
