Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium with 4K HDR display, Dual rear cameras Launched
After launching the Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones at the MWC 2018, Sony has today launched a new smartphone dubbed as Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium. While the company didn’t reveal the pricing of the smartphone at the launch event, it will be available globally from Summer 2018. It comes in Black and Chrome Silver colors options.
Talking about the specifications, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with the Xperia UI laid on top. It sports a 5.8” 4K (2160 x 3840 pixels) Triluminos HDR Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. It has the same Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the back as well. The smartphone is powered by a 2.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. It offers 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 4TB via microSD card.
For photography, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium comes equipped with a Motion Eye dual rear camera setup with a combination of a 19MP primary 1/2.3″ Exmos RS sensor with f/1.8 aperture G Lens and 1.22μm pixel size along with a 12MP secondary 1/2.3″ Exmor RS sensor with f/1.6 aperture G Lens and 1.55μm pixel size. The Primary sensor is RBG while the secondary sensor is Monochrome, the combination of both sensors offers 960 fps super slow motion videos (FHD/HD), Predictive Capture, Anti-distortion shutter, Triple image sensing technology and 5-axis image stabilization for shake-free videos, 4K HDR Movie recording and also offers ISO sensitivity 51200 for photos and ISO 12800 for video. The company also mentioned using the new AUBE fusion image signal processor in this device. The AUBE processor will process the data from both the camera sensors in real time. On the front, there is a 13MP shooter with 1/ 3,06” Exmor RS sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and 22mm wide-angle lens.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium is fueled by a 3540 mAh Battery with Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology along with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and Qi Wireless charging support. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ GLONASS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB 3.1 Type-C port. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor; there is also a fingerprint scanner at the back. With the IP68 certification, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium is also water and dust resistant and has front-facing stereo speakers. It measures 158 x 80 x 11.9 mm and weighs 236 grams.
