Storm, Felise Kaufusi, elbow, Roosters, Sam Walker, Andrew Johns

Andrew Johns is staggered that Storm second-rower Felise Kaufusi escaped with only an $1800 fine for his elbow to the face of Roosters playmaker Sam Walker.

“I think Felise should go buy a lottery ticket,” the eighth Immortal said on Nine’s The Sunday Footy Show.

Kaufusi will only be fined $1800 if he enters an early guilty plea, and $2500 if he fights the charge at the NRL judiciary and loses, after his ugly move on Walker early in the second half of the Roosters’ loss to the Storm on Saturday.

“Well, they’ve pretty much said he’s guilty. So you elbow someone in the head and you get a fine,” Johns said.

“I just hope they’re consistent.

“I give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn’t do it (deliberately), whether it was as he was falling.

“But, if they’ve fined him, they’re saying he’s guilty. So, $1800? I think Felise should go buy a lottery ticket. Pretty lucky there.”

Kaufusi raised an elbow at Walker’s face as he took a hit-up in Melbourne’s 26-18 win over the Tricolours at the SCG.

The match review committee’s decision to only hand the Dolphins-bound forward a fine was welcome news to Queensland State of Origin coach Billy Slater.
