Familiar faces in hidden places
Eagle-eyed Street Fighter fans, who are understandably trawling through yesterday’s Street Fighter 6 gameplay trailer with a fine toothcomb, uncovered several flash frames that seemingly “leak”, (I see you, Capcom), a long list of characters headed to the super-exciting looking new fighter.
And then, everything blew wide open…
Mere hours later, several online communities, including 4Chan, Twitter, and ResetEra, posted an image that seemingly showcases the entirety of Street Fighter 6‘s launch roster, complete with some pretty badass-looking character art for each and every fighter. You can check out the full image below, as compiled and identified by Reddit user Zetra3.
While the original source of the leak remains up for debate (given that the image surfaced and reposted in multiple places in double quick-time), the accuracy of the visual appearances for Ryu, Chun-Li, Luke, and newcomers Jamie and Kimberely, all of whom appeared in yesterday’s trailer, suggests that this is, indeed, the cast of Street Fighter 6’s World Warriors.
So, who’s on the agenda? Well, we have the entirety of the original eight Street Fighter II cast members, from Ryu and Ken through Zangief, Dhalsim, and Blanka, (note: no Shadaloo bosses at all). Super Turbo finds its representation in fan-favorite Cammy and a returning Dee Jay Maximum, while newer SFV superstars Rashid, Ed, and Luke also put in an appearance. Ed made it, even though Luke is is the SFVI poster boy. I honestly did now see that coming.
This familiar crew is accompanied by no less than seven newcomers, including the meaty-looking Marisa, the funky fresh Kimberely, baller JP and the mysterious A.K.I. — who probably has very little to do with Nintendo 64 wrestling games.
Street Fighter 6 launches in 2023 on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms.
