The Sydney Roosters will make the trip to Townsville without their head coach, after the club confirmed Trent Robinson had tested positive to COVID-19.

In a brief statement, the Roosters said that the coach is self-isolating and will continue to follow the NSW public health orders.

“I’m feeling fine and am very comfortable with the plans we have in place, and I’ll be back at the club next week,” Robinson said.

The Roosters will head north to play the resurgent Cowboys, who have rattled off comprehensive wins over the Raiders and Broncos in back-to-back weeks.

Robinson’s men, however, were well beaten by their arch-rivals South Sydney on Friday, and will be hoping to bounce back for their second win of the season.

Multiple teams have lost players to the virus during the opening three rounds of the season, but Robinson is only the second head coach to be forced into isolation. Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon missed round one.
