HBO Max’s upcoming series The Last of Us is based on the 2013 video game of the same name. The series will follow the adventure of Joel, a smuggler played by Pedro Pascal, and Ellie, a teenage girl played by Bella Ramsey. The duo navigate a post-apocalyptic world that is ravaged by a deadly fungus.

Apart from the show, fans will be able to get their fix of all things The Last of Us from something new that HBO Max has announced. The television network has revealed that the series will be accompanied by a companion podcast. The podcast will be hosted by Troy Baker, who is the original voice actor for Joel in The Last of Us video game.

Baker will be joined by series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann to delve deep into each episode with a scene-by-scene analysis. Mazin, who previously worked on HBO’s Chernobyl, was also a member on the show’s companion podcast.

The nine-episode first season of HBO’s The Last of Us will debut on Sunday, January 15, 2023, on HBO Max and HBO. The series will be available on Disney+ Hotstar, like much of the HBO library in the country.

The video game Last of Us was developed by Druckmann and the Naughty Dog studio. The series is said to be the biggest TV production in Canadian history, with composer Gustavo Santaolalla reprising his role.
