Airbnb has released a new list of trending destinations based on searches on the booking platform. Some of the most popular spots are listed as “iconic cities” by the holiday provider.

Dubai, one of the Middle East’s leading holiday destinations topped the list of trending international cities.

The city is known for record breaking and is home to the world’s tallest wheel and deepest pool.

One of the city’s top attractions is the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, which offers panoramic views of the destination.

A tourist wrote on Tripadvisor: “Amazing building! The experience was wonderful. To see Dubai from that height is truly amazing!”

Other top attractions include Dubai Mall, one of the world’s best shopping destinations, and Dubai Fountain.

The city’s aquarium and underwater zoo is very popular with children and Dubai also has several beaches for sunbathing.

If tourists are looking for a cheaper alternative, they could look at holidaying in nearby Qatar instead.

Qatar has a surplus of accommodation after hosting the World Cup, and tourists might be able to find a cheaper room there.

In Europe, chic Nice in the south of France, was the top trending city. The gorgeous city has some of France’s prettiest beaches.

Culture fans can visit the Matisse gallery while the city’s flower market is an idyllic way to start the day .

Copenhagen was the next most popular destination. The Scandi hotspot might not have the warmest weather but has plenty of attractions to keep tourists busy.

The Danish capital is also known for its cafe culture and tourists shouldn’t leave without sampling one of its famous cinnamon buns.

Alicante topped the list in Spain and the coastal city is a great base to explore the Costa Blanca’s many beaches.

Very popular with British tourists, the resort city has a buzzing nightlife scene and plenty of family-friendly restaurants.

Valencia also made the hotlist in Spain while Athens rounded off the top five trending destinations.

Scarborough was the most popular destination in the UK with Belfast and Peak Forest close behind.
