In addition to continued concern from the public, BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond claimed back in December 2021 that the Queen might have health issues the public have not been told about.
She said: “Oh, it’s been incredibly tough [year]. It started really, with her beloved husband, Prince Philip, fighting ill health – fighting old age, really. She went back to work after lockdown, a bit too much it would seem – got exhausted.
“And there may be some underlying health problems that we haven’t been told about, which caused her to be in hospital for a night.
“So she’s had a pretty tough year, but she’d be the first to say she’s not alone in having a tough year.”
Although there has been no official comment or diagnosis about the monarch’s swollen or bruised legs, the NHS explains that a condition known as oedema, can cause body tissues to become puffy and swollen.
