The Sound of 007 review: Stunning new James Bond movie celebrates 60 years of theme songs | Films | Entertainment
Naturally, The Sound of 007 starts over 60 years ago, charting the composing and arrangement of Monty Norman and John Barry’s iconic James Bond theme and its roots in the Indian tune Good Sign, Bad Sign.
Colourful visuals cover and dot around classic footage as we were taken back in time for the stories of some of the franchise’s most famous songs.
From Dame Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones almost fainting on the final notes of Goldfinger and Thunderball to Duran Duran reinvigorating the Bond theme with A View To A Kill after some lacklustre and forgettable efforts that the movie isn’t ashamed to acknowledge.
Talking heads via new interviews with the likes of Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig to archive footage with the late Barry painted wonderful pictures of the best tales around the making of such tracks.
