The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Game Hooks a Summer Release Date, Tech Test Coming in May

Sharpen up  your meathooks and gas up your saw, because The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game has locked down a mid-summer release date. It’s also been revealed the game will be holding a technical test in May for those who want to try the game out early. A new teaser trailer for the game has been released, showing off plenty of splattery goodness. Check it out for yourself, below.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is being developed by Gun Interactive, which was the team behind Friday the 13th: The Game, one of the pioneers of this style of asymmetric horror game. Of course, this genre is pretty much dominated by Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight now, so it remains to be seen if Letherface can cut into their business.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will put players in control of various hapless survivors or one of the members of the iconic Slaughter (or Sawyer) Family. Of course, Leatherface is the most famous and deadly of the clan, but it looks like you’ll also be able to play as Grandpa, Drayton, Nubbins, and perhaps a couple new faces (I’m not familiar with the girl family member in the trailer, but there are a whole lot of Texas Chain Saw movies and characters, so perhaps she’s just a deep cut). Need to know more? Here’s the official description for the game

“Take on the role of one of the notorious Slaughter family, or their victims, in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a third-person asymmetrical horror experience based on the groundbreaking and iconic 1974 horror film. As a victim, you must use your wits and stealth to stay out of the Family’s reach and find the tools you need to lead to your eventual freedom. Slaughter Family players must seek out, track down, and stop their guests from escaping. Players of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre can finally find out if they have what it takes to survive. Experience the mad and macabre for yourself in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.”

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre launches on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5 on August 18 and will be available via Game Pass on Day 1. The technical test kicks off on May 25.
