The Woman King starring Academy Award-winning actor Viola Davis is all set for a theatrical release in India. Sony Pictures Entertainment India has announced that the movie will release in theatres across India on October 5 in English and Tamil.
The movie is about the Agojie, a warrior unit comprised of female fighters who were in charge of protecting the African kingdom of Dahomey in the 19th century.
The cast comprises Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning actor Viola Davis who will play the role of General Nanisca. She will be joined by International Emmy award-winning Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch of Captain Marvel fame, John Boyega of Star Wars fame, Tony award-winning Adrienne Warren, Jayme Lawson of The Batman (2022) fame and Hero Fiennes Tiffin of Harry Potter fame.
