This may be a ‘hint’ that Apple Watch SE 2 is launching on September 7

There have been reports that Apple is set to launch three Apple Watch models at its September 7 event. These are said to be: Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Series 8 Pro and Apple Watch SE 2. While first is the traditional Apple Watch, ‘Pro ‘ is said to be the rugged version of Apple Watch Series 8, and Apple Watch Series 2 will succeed the first Apple Watch SE. Now new reports claim that Apple Watch Series 3 models, which are currently being sold out globally on the tech giant’s online store, are likely to be discontinued soon.
Three out of four Series 3 configurations listed on Apple’s website are currently out of stock in the UK and Australia, for example, while one Series 3 model is unavailable in the US store, reports MacRumors. In India, while the Apple Watch Series 3 models are available on the company’s online store in India, several offline retailers Gadgets Now checked with didn’t have the watch.

The second-generation Apple Watch SE is said to succeed the original Apple Watch SE. Apple launched Apple Watch SE in 2020, the watch offered an affordable option for Apple Watch buyers.
Now reports say that the original Apple Watch SE would likely replace the Series 3 as the new lowest-priced model. Apple Watch SE is available at Rs 29,900 while Apple Watch Series 3 at Rs 20,900 in India. This means after the September 7 event, Apple Watch SE will be the cheapest model in Apple’s smartwatch portfolio.
Apple launched Apple Watch Series 3 in 2017. The upcoming watchOS 9 will support Apple Watch Series 4 and later models. This means that Apple Watch Series 3 will not be getting an OS update this year.
The tech giant is expected to announce four new iPhone 14 models at its “Far Out” event on Wednesday. There are also speculations that Apple may launch AirPods Pro at the event. These will be the second-generation of Apple’s premium TWS range, AirPods Pro. It will be an in-person event at Apple’s Cupertino campus in the US, the company’s first big event to take place since the two years of the pandemic.
