Goes without saying how Bollywood stars knew exactly how to step up their wardrobe game as the two-day celebrations saw a palette of outfits that were a testament to the glorious Indian craftsmanship. The two-day celebration saw a varied approach to how an Indian outfit can be revolutionised by adding some westernised style elements, it was refreshing and truly an ode to their theme – “India in fashion.” The whole India meets west concept was explicitly showcased in the outfits picked for the grand gala, here’s looking at some of our favourites from Day 1 that left a lasting impression.
Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone sure got the memo of serving a style statement that highlights the concept of traditional infused with modern style. She sported an elegant pantsuit, accentuating the look with an ivory organza cape. She complemented the look with an ethnic touch, maang tikka and statement danglers. It rounded off her look with utmost panache.

Serving glamour in copious amounts, Alia Bhatt’s pleated silver saree was a class apart for Day 1 celebrations. Her off-shoulder blouse had 3D floral detailing. The style quotient of her sheer silver saree was further upped by a statement diamond choker, studs and a cuff bracelet. She kept the look minimal with a neat bun and her go-to nude-base makeup.
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena Kapoor Khan was the quintessential lady in red. Her lehenga choli was the perfect classic style statement and she carried it off with effortless grace. The entire bodice was intricately studded with sequins and beads, all stitched into a floral design. Her backless blouse featured a cropped hem and a U-neckline. The matching dupatta in a silk-satin fabric rounded off her traditional look to perfection.

Karisma Kapoor still manages to leave hearts aflutter with her elegant fashion picks. For the Day 1 celebration, she was seen clad in a golden floral saree with a black border. Kiara Advani looked ethereal in her cream-toned outfit. a silver studded blouse paired with a matching skirt that had sequin work all across its bodice. Desi girl Priyanka Chopra Jonas sure knows how to make heads turn everywhere she goes. Sticking to a peachy shade for the evening, Priyanka’s sheer gown was as dreamy as ever. The outfit had a long cape with exquisite ruffle detailing around the collar. She went soft-glam with her beauty look and rounded it off with puffy fun, diamond earrings and a bracelet.
Sonam Kapoor Ahuja
Being the fashion maverick that she is, Sonam Kapoor looked stunning as always in a cream saree. The bright red printed pallu added a nice highlighting factor to the entire ensemble. Vidya Balan’s look for the evening was a perfect testament to the ongoing boho-chic trend. She wore a heavily embroidered yoke top accompanied by a long ivory cape. She paired it with a black drape skirt. For her beauty essentials, she went for soft eyes, dewy skin, filled-in brows and nude lips. She had a mid-parted bun for her hairdo and opted for a traditional maangtika for her accessories. The exquisite detailing on the top also had tassels on either end in a bright red hue.
