Tottenham managed to return to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolves on Saturday afternoon. Harry Kane was the hero for the home side, with the England international heading home in the 64th minute. And it means Spurs have now won two of their opening three league fixtures, with a draw with Chelsea in between.

Tottenham had gone into their game with Wolves hoping to return to winning ways after drawing 2-2 with Chelsea last time out.

And Kane was the hero for the home side, with the England international heading home after a terrific flick from Ivan Perisic.

It was exactly what Tottenham deserved, with Spurs looking considerably sharper than their rivals during the course of the contest in the capital.

The result means Spurs are now top of the Premier League table, though they’ve admittedly played one more game than the majority of teams in the top flight.

Express Sport will now take a look at four players who stood out as Tottenham clinched a vital win on home turf.

Harry Kane

When Tottenham need a goal, they often turn to Kane.

Having hit the woodwork, the England international was starting to look a frustrated figure as Wolves dug deep to try and earn a point.

But Kane struck in the second half, expertly powering home a header to ensure it was a good day at the office for Antonio Conte and his well-drilled side.

Kane, in scoring, has now broken Sergio Aguero’s record for the most Premier League goals for one club.

He’s bagged 186 in the top flight, making himself a legend at Tottenham in the process.

Ivan Perisic

Conte decided to hand Ivan Perisic a first start since the veteran moved to the club from Inter Milan back in the summer transfer window.

Initially, like many of his team-mates, the Croatia international was quiet.

But Perisic proved his class as the contest went on, with the former Inter, Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg star providing the flick for Kane to score and putting some impressive crosses into the box.

Now he’s got a first start under his belt, fans will be hoping the 33-year-old can kick on going forward.

Perisic is a statement signing and appears perfectly suited to Conte’s system, having played under the Italian before at Inter.

Dejan Kulusevski

It wasn’t the best afternoon for Dejan Kulusevski, who has certainly had better days during his brief Tottenham career.

But the former Juventus star was a real threat in the second half, posing Wolves all kinds of problems with his technique and speed.

He’s been a substantial hit since moving from the Serie A giants back in the January transfer window.

And, with each passing game, his relationship with the likes of Kane and Son Heung-Min seems to get better and better.

Whether he can propel Tottenham to the Premier League title this term, meanwhile, is something only time will tell.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg struggled during the first 45 minutes of the game, picking up a yellow card during the early stages.

But the Denmark international, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the wake of Casemiro’s departure to Manchester United, then stepped up to show his class.

Wolves aren’t an easy team to play against and Hojbjerg was able to marshal the midfield, despite being on a yellow for the majority of the contest.

For that, he deserves credit.

And he’s certainly a leader within this Tottenham side, with the 27-year-old helping to get his team-mates in order as they managed to get over the line.
