The January transfer window is officially closed and all around the country chairmen of football clubs are breathing a sigh of relief that they don’t have to worry about it again until the summer. Overall it was a relatively busy month for Premier League sides, with Newcastle the busiest team having brought in a total of five new players.

On the other side of the coin, fans of the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United may well feel bitterly disappointed that they were not able to make any major signings, and it could well cost their team in the second half of the season.

Although the window has shut, there are still a bit of last-minute business which could get done early on Tuesday.

Liverpool looked to have run out of time in their pursuit of Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho, but the Reds still hold out hope of securing a pre-contract agreement for the youngster.

Elsewhere, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks set to complete a move to Barcelona from Arsenal to bring to a close five rollercoaster years at the Emirates.
