The cost of living crisis is a huge concern for households across the country right now, and you may be looking for ways to make some extra cash quickly. If you have some old PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo games lying around then one way you can make a bit of extra money is to sell these old games. But if you want to get the best price possible for any old retro games you have there are a few things you need to know.

If you just want to turn around some money quickly the easiest thing you can do is head to your local CeX.

The CeX website will show you how much the high-street retailer will offer in cash or for trade-ins on games that are listed online.

Trade-in values are always higher at CeX so if you would rather get money off a game you have your eye on then you can do that.

For those happy biding their time to get more money you can simply try to sell any old games you find on Facebook Marketplace or eBay.

But one common thing that can lead to games being listed online for ages without being snapped up is items being overpriced.

It may be tempting to price games at a high price on eBay or Marketplace but this can just lead to these items sitting around for ages.

So it’s always a good idea to do a bit of research to see how much a game you’ve got is worth and how much it can realistically sell for.

One site you can use to research this is PriceCharting, which tracks how the value of countless games, consoles and accessories change over time.

Alternatively, you can just search for the games you’ve got on eBay and see what Buy It Now prices are listed as well as keeping a close eye on auctions.

Sometimes Buy It Now prices are above what a game typically sells for. So if you follow auctions as well you can see how much a game will actually sell for – it might be less than what you hoped for or even more.

If you do decide to list any games you’ve got at auction you can always put down a Buy It Now price alongside the auction, or include a reserve.

And finally if you discover you have a number of games together that individually aren’t worth a lot of money you can simply bundle them together as a ‘job lot’.

This should be listed on eBay alongside the platform the games are on (i.e PS1 job lot, Xbox 360 job lot) and you may find you’ll get more money for all of these games bundled together in total then you would when selling it individually.
