“In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today,” Musk replied to a tweet by independent author and journalist Matt Taibbi. When asked whether Baker was asked to explain before he got fired, Musk said that Baker’s “explanation was unconvincing.”
@samgabnz @mtaibbi Yes. His explanation was …unconvincing.

‘Twitter Files‘ highlight Baker’s role
The Twitter Files published by Taibbi suggest that Baker was involved in the discussion about US president Joe Biden‘s son, Hunter Biden‘s laptop story. He reportedly backed former head of legal, policy and trust at Twitter Vijaya Gadde, who reportedly “played a key role” in the matter.
Baker claimed that the laptop story fell under Twitter’s “hacked materials” policy. “I support the conclusion that we need more facts to assess whether the materials were hacked. At this stage, however, it’s reasonable for us to assume that they may have been and that caution is warranted,” the documents published by Taibbi suggest.
What is “Twitter Files”
“Twitter Files” is a set of records which suggests that the social media platform censored stories revolving around Hunter Biden during the 2020 presidential campaign in the US. The records show emails exchanged between Twitter staff and the Biden campaign suggesting that the “Biden team” asked Twitter to remove the content that showed Hunter in a bad light and curb its dissemination.
“It is a Frankensteinian tale of a human-built mechanism grown out of the control of its designer,” Taibbi had said. Meanwhile, the White House dismissed the Twitter Files as “full of old news” and a “distraction.”
