Type 2 diabetes: Broccoli could lower blood sugar levels – study

Apart from its effects on blood sugar levels, another research paper found that the goodie can also improve insulin resistance.

In case you’re not aware, insulin resistance happens when your cells don’t respond well to insulin and can’t easily take up glucose from your blood, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases explains.

Published in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition, the study looked at 81 patients who had to consume broccoli sprout powder for four weeks.

The researchers concluded that the sprouts may help improve insulin resistance in those with type 2 diabetes.
