Type 2 diabetes: Goji berries lower blood sugars and cholesterol levels

In a study published in the National Library of Health, the antidiabetic efficacy of Polysaccharide in patients with type 2 diabetes was further investigated. 

In the study a total of 67 patients with type 2 diabetes were enrolled in this prospective, randomised, double-blind study.

In order to observe the hypoglycaemic and lipid-lowering activity of polysaccharide in patients with type 2 diabetes after dinner, various tests were conducted between control and polysaccharide intervention groups in a three months.

“Although, the study had small sample size and short follow-up, significant findings were observed,” noted the study.

It continued: “The results of our study indicated a remarkable protective effect of polysaccharide in patients with type 2 diabetes.

“Serum glucose was found to be significantly decreased and insulinogenic index increased after three months administration of polysaccharide.”

This study concluded that polysaccharide is a good treatment for type 2 diabetes.
