Tyson Fury explains main reason he doesn’t believe Anthony Joshua fight will happen | Boxing | Sport

Tyson Fury believes Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua’s egos will get in the way of their all-British showdown getting made. The Gypsy King has set a deadline of Monday for Joshua to sign the final contract otherwise he has threatened to ‘move on’ to another opponent.

AJ received the bout agreement last Friday and is yet to send back his completed paperwork. According to Hearn, there are still a number of points in the contract that need to be addressed before they agree to terms.

The Matchroom Boxing chief has affirmed that this won’t happen by Monday but that they are doing everything they can to get the deal over the line. Growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress, Fury told iFL TV that he believes the fight won’t happen.

When asked whether he thinks Hearn and Joshua will sign, he replied: “No I don’t, I think they’re both a pack of s***houses and if it’s not done by Monday I will be moving on. I’m not extending it anymore to Tuesday, I’m not extending it to Thursday, the following weekend.

Fury then continued to disclose the main reason why he thinks it won’t happen, saying: “I didn’t want to give them any excuses not to take it, but they’ll always find some excuses. Eddie Hearn’s got a big ego and Joshua doesn’t want to lose to me so that’s why I don’t think they’ll sign the contract.”

If the Fury and Joshua fight does fall through, Shane Fury has revealed that Tyson will face a “run-out opponent” on the same date. The most likely replacement is Mahmoud Charr who has been involved in a verbal sparring session with Fury ever since he announced he would be stepping back into the ring following his brief retirement in April.
