Ubisoft Cancels Development of Project Q; Anno 1800 Makes Its Way to Consoles, as the Title Breaks 2.5 Million Player Mark

Earlier this month, Ubisoft created major waves with cancellations for various unannounced projects. Alongside the postponement of Skull and Bones, 2023 saw the shelving of multiple titles that won’t see the light of day.

At the time, no details were released about the unannounced projects. However, it’s now been confirmed that one of the projects was indeed Project Q.

The title was teased to be in development last year. While it was rumored that the game was a Battle Royale, which bears a ton of resemblance to popular titles like Fortnite, Ubisoft later stated that it wasn’t a Battle Royale. Instead, it reportedly featured several fun PvP modes.

“We can confirm we will no longer support the development of Project Q in order to focus on priority projects, to which our teams are being reallocated,” a Ubisoft spokesperson said to Eurogamer.

Anno 1800 makes its way to consoles on March 16

While other projects seem to be having it hard, things look rather promising for the popular RTS franchise, Anno. The series’ latest title in Anno 1800 from Ubisoft Mainz recently broke the 2.5 million player mark, and it will soon be making an entry into the console world.

For the first time in 25 years, an Anno title will be available on console, as Anno 1800 releases for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 16. Players can currently pre-order two versions of the title in Standard and Deluxe. While the former features the base game and the biggest game updates, the latter also comes with three cosmetics packs: the Pedestrian Zone, the Amusements Pack and Vibrant Cities.
