Ubisoft has confirmed the previous rumours to be true by revealing the next edition of the popular franchise through a social media post. The company has shared a tweet from its official Twitter account to reveal Mirage as the next Assassin’s Creed game and has announced that more details will be divulged at the Ubisoft Forward event which will be held on September 10.

Earlier, rumours about Assassin’s Creed Mirage started making rounds on the internet as Ubisoft accidentally leaked an image which was later deleted from Twitter citing “removed in response to a report by the copyright holder.”

However, except for the officially released image on Twitter and the name of the game, not much else has been revealed by Ubisoft. The artwork shared by the official Ubisoft account indicates that the new game would be set in Baghdad, while the leaked artwork also depicted a Middle-eastern setting. The company has promised to share more details about the game in the upcoming event.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Other speculated details
Older reports suggested that the Baghdad title will be named Rift and was set to feature Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Basim Ibn Ishaq as the main character. Moreover, these reports also claimed that the next version of the game will be released as an expansion pack of Valhalla. However, these details aren’t officially confirmed yet and whether Rift and Mirage are the same game or not is expected to be revealed soon.

These reports also stated that the game will ditch the role-playing elements of the more recent entries and might get back to the more stealth-focused approach of the original games. Ubisoft was reportedly planning to release the game this year, but the company has already announced that the game will be offered in mid-2023. Ubisoft may also reveal the game’s official release date in the upcoming event.
