Changes to Universal Credit have been announced which will mean Britons must begin looking for work outside of their desired sector quicker. Claimants will be expected to widen their search after four weeks of receiving Universal Credit, when previously they did not have to do this until three months into their claim.

People could be denied their benefit if they fail to do this as part of the Government’s plans to get 500,000 more Britons into work.

There are a record 1.2 million job vacancies to be filled in the UK, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
