Universal credit, pip and esa changes – DWP introduces new virtual system | Personal Finance | Finance
A recent DWP National Statistics report disclosed that the total number of benefit claimants increased rapidly during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, rising from 20.5 million in February 2020 to 23 million in February 2021.
With more claims to process, the DWP is attempting to assess more people virtually and has signed a two-year contract with a video provider costing £3.95million.
It should make life easier for benefit claimants as it will mean that claims or changes are processed quicker.
Although a date for its initial introduction hasn’t been confirmed, the systems will be used for Universal Credit, PIP and ESA interviews and assessments.
