Vivo X Fold: Vivo X Fold 2, Vivo X Flip and Vivo Pad 2 to launch on April 20 in China

Vivo is set to expand its foldable smartphone portfolio with two new models. Apart from this, the Chinese smartphone maker will also launch a new tablet along with these foldable smartphones. The company has confirmed the launch date of the Vivo X Fold 2, the X Flip and the Pad 2 tablet. The Vivo X Fold 2 will succeed the Vivo X Fold smartphone which was launched in 2022 in China. Meanwhile, the Vivo X Flip will be the company’s first-ever flip phone with a clamshell design. Along with these foldable smartphones, the company will also launch the successor to the original Vivo Pad tablet which was launched in China in April 2022. Vivo has shared multiple posts on its official Weibo account to confirm the launch date of these devices.
Vivo foldable and tablet: Confirmed release date
As per the Weibo posts, the company will launch the Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip at an event which is scheduled to be held in China on April 20 at 7 pm (local time). The company has also confirmed that the Vivo Pad 2 tablet will also accompany these foldable smartphones.
Vivo X Fold 2: Expected specs
The Vivo X Fold 2 is rumoured to sport an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED E6 screen that may support a 2160 x 1916 pixels resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1800 nits. The foldable smartphone may also have a 6.53-inch cover screen that is expected to support a 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1600 nits.
The upcoming foldable smartphone is rumoured to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset which might be backed by 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
For optics, the Vivo X Fold 2 may house a triple rear camera setup that is likely to include a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP telephoto unit. The smartphone will have two 16MP front cameras (one on the main screen and another on the cover screen) for selfies and video calls. The smartphone is also expected to feature the Vivo V2 ISP to improve the photography and videography experience.
The smartphone is also rumoured to pack a 4800mAh battery that may support 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Vivo X Fold 2 is also expected to run OriginOS based on Android 13.

Vivo X Flip: Expected specs
Vivo’s first flip phone is likely to sport a 6.8-inch foldable main display that may support an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the rumoured rectangular cover screen is expected to support a resolution of 682 pixels. This smartphone is rumoured to be powered by the 8+ Gen 1 chipset and may run Android 13 out-of-the-box.
The Vivo X Flip is speculated to house a Zeiss-powered dual rear camera setup that may include a 50MP Sony IMX866 main sensor and a 12MP Sony IMX663 ultra-wide lens. The upcoming foldable phone is also likely to pack a 4,400mAh battery unit that may support 44W fast wired charging.
Vivo Pad 2: Expected specs and design
The original Vivo Pad’s successor is expected to sport a 12-inch LCD panel that may support a 144Hz refresh rate and 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution. The upcoming tablet is rumoured to come powered by the Dimensity 9000 mobile platform that will be coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
Recent rumours also suggest that the Vivo Pad 2 may feature an improved design compared to its predecessor. The upcoming may even house a dual rear camera setup, which may include an LED flash and the Vivo logo in the centre of the back panel. Apart from this, the Pad 2 is also expected to come with a bundled keyboard and a Vivo Pencil.
