Warriors playmaker Chanel Harris-Tavita is set to call time on his rugby league career – at least for now – at the end of the season.

Harris-Tavita, who’s currently out of action suffering a ruptured testicle in round seven, revealed on Tuesday he wants to take time away from the game at the end of the season, with reports suggesting he will look into travel and writing as a change of scenery.

The crafty five-eighth turned 23 just last month.

“I want to take a break from rugby league,” Harris-Tavita told AAP.

“I’ve made the decision in the last couple of weeks.

“Over the last year, I haven’t been enjoying it as much as I want to, even though being an NRL player was something I dreamed of as a kid.”

Harris-Tavita has played 44 NRL games to date after making his debut for the Warriors in 2019.

He’s represented Samoa at international level, and recently put on the Maori All Stars jersey at the All Stars match earlier this year.
