Warriors vs Storm results, kick off time, Eels vs Panthers updates, Round 20 news, Souths coach Jason Demetriou takes swipe at Eddie Jones
Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou has not taken too kindly to Eddie Jones saying he’d jump at the opportunity to coach the team in the NRL one day.
Jones currently has his eyes firmly set on winning the Rugby World Cup with England, but has made no secret of his desire to switch codes.
“If there was an opportunity there (in the NRL) I would jump at it, but the reality is it’s probably not going to be there,” he said this week.
“(South Sydney) would be the dream team. That would be the dream.
“From the age of five, I’ve supported Souths. That would be fantastic (to coach the Rabbitohs). I loved the old teams with Ronnie Coote, Bob McCarthy, John Sattler and Eric Simms.”
Demetriou wasn’t impressed.
“If he wants to give me a call and have a chat, by all means, happy to do that,” he told reporters on Friday.
“But advertising yourself through the press is probably not the way to go about it.”
Safe to say Jones might have to wait for a little while yet for that Souths vacancy to open up.
