Watch: The death of Batman in Gotham Knights

That the Batman is supposed to be dead in DC’s recently launched superhero action game Gotham Knights was announced long back, right with one of its trailers, but now you can see a part of the backstory of how he actually dies in the Gotham Knights game universe before the actual game begins.
DC recently released the prologue for its latest crimefighting action game, a prologue that shows the death of Bruce Wayne himself. The video is around 12 minutes long and features a long fight inside the Batcave where the Caped Crusader ultimately goes down fighting none other than the Demon’s Head, the leader of the League of Assassins and his trainer Ra’s Al Ghul. Ra’s and a heavily injured Bruce going head to head one last time inside the Batcave looks very much inspired from the Injustice fighting games by NetherRealm Studios.
Here is the clip.

The four who trained under Bruce aren’t the sidekicks anymore. Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and the Red Hood will not just have to fill in for Batman but also prove their worthiness as Gotham’s protectors without the guidance of Bruce, now that the criminal underworld of the Court of Owls will swoop in, thinking that Gotham is ripe for the taking.
Is Batman really dead?
There could be more to the story than meets the eye and fans would not so easily accept the death of Bruce Wayne, certainly not in the fashion of how it is shown in the official prologue. If he can lay down plans to take down every member of the Justice League should they go rogue, he can also have a contingency plan to stop Ra’s Al Ghul. Going super neurotic about planning for every bad eventuality is something that’s hardwired into the DNA of Bruce Wayne and is one of his signature character traits. So how could he leave Ra’s al Ghul out? It doesn’t look likely. Maybe the game will reveal more on this part of the story towards its end. Then there is the mystery of Ra’s. Did he really die too in this universe? There is plenty to speculate on.
For now, the Batman could very well be dead in the game universe of Gotham Knights. Or not.
