Nimrat Kaur, who was recently seen as Bimla Devi in Dasvi, along with Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam, speaks to mid-day.com about the body shaming she faced after gaining 15 kgs for the role. Nimrat shared her journey on social media and has been advocating body positivity. She speaks about her growing up years and not having to face the pressures of social media that teenagers face today, being trolled for dressing in a certain way and much more!
The actress says, “I had to remind myself right at the beginning, this is work, this is my job as an actor. I have previously done this for a web series called ‘The Test case’ where I had to transform myself into the role of a commando. That required me to have a different kind of body type. That’s a different mind space because somewhere it’s easier to have a relationship with your body when you’re getting fitter, faster and leaner. There’s something about it that makes you feel more agile and in control. Whereas the opposite, where you are required to go to the other end of the spectrum, that conversation with your body changes because somewhere we are conditioned to feel that we are losing grip on how you should look like!”
