One of life’s little pleasures is unboxing and setting up a brand-new smartphone. It’s hard to beat that honeymoon period with the new device, but there will definitely be a few things you change after the initial setup process is completed.

So with that in mind, we want to know what’s the first thing you change on a newly purchased smartphone. You can let us know by taking the poll below.

What’s the first thing you change on a new phone?

Just to clarify, we’re not talking about adding a Wi-Fi connection, adding your Google account, registering a fingerprint, tweaking your sound profile, connecting to other gadgets (e.g. Bluetooth earphones, smart home gadgets), or downloading your favorite apps. These are all tasks we’d expect anyone to do when setting up a new phone.

Instead, we’re talking about tweaking visual aspects such as the launcher or wallpaper, changing display settings such as the refresh rate or color profile, tweaking battery/charging settings (e.g. disabling optimized charging or changing battery profiles for specific apps), or changing app-related settings (such as default apps or app notifications).

Do you tweak something that’s not listed in our poll? Then go ahead and vote for “other” and leave a comment with the first change you make on a new phone.
