WhatsApp ‘Delete for Everyone’ Feature to Update with New Rules

0

WhatsApp introduced the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature last year to give more controls over the conversation to its users. The initial time allowed to delete the messages was 7 minutes, and later on, it has been increased to 1 hour 8 minutes and 16 seconds. And now, there is a new update for this feature with a set of new rules which will it more robust.

This new update improves its existing ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature where a user can delete a message in any conversation. So what is the new thing for this update? According to WABetaInfo’s latest report, WhatsApp users will now get a time limit of up to 13 hours, 8 minutes and 16 seconds in which they must accept the delete request. This update was set to fix the random delete requests for older messages.

WABetaInfo also stated that the ‘Recipient Limit’ has been changed to ensure that all members of a conversation will receive a revoke request for a message within the specific time period so that messages could be deleted.

To visualize the new update, if you have sent a message to your friend and you want to delete the message in the conversation, the message will not be immediately deleted after you have tapped the ‘Delete for Everyone’ if your friend does not receive the delete request in the mentioned time, then your conversation will not be deleted.

All the processes of this feature happen in the background so the user does not have to take care of it on the front end. WhatsApp added this feature to ensure that the modified versions will not manipulate with time to delete days, weeks, months or sometimes even years old messages from the conversation.  So to further think about the reason, it’s for security purposes.

This new update comes along with the Sticker support to the app where the WhatsApp developers are currently working on. Even though there is no official date for its rollout yet, we can expect that this new feature will come out early this week.
